Early Diagnostic Biomarkers and New Advances in the Treatment of Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction
Abstract:Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a complex and increasingly common clinical syndrome characterized by a normal or near-normal left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) but with significant diastolic dysfunction. HFpEF accounts for nearly 50% of heart failure patients, and its hospitalization rate and mortality rate are comparable to those of heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF)[1]. Obesity, type 2 diabetes (T2DM), and hypertension are common comorbidities of HFpEF and may promote its pathogenesis through a series of metabolic and inflammatory mechanisms[2].
