Research Progress on Gut Microbiota and Blood-Brain Barrier in Epilepsy
Abstract:Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disease, with approximately 50 million people suffering from epilepsy worldwide [1]. The gut microbiota, a complex community of microorganisms residing in the gastrointestinal tract, plays a key role in the pathogenesis and treatment of epilepsy when there is functional impairment and/or dysbiosis of the gut microbiota [2].
