Left Ventricular False Tendons Causing Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction: A Case Report
Abstract:Left ventricular false tendons (LVFT) are a congenital anatomical variation of the heart, characterized by fibrous strands within the left ventricular cavity. They usually do not cause significant clinical symptoms and are generally considered to be of no clinical significance [1-2]. However, in certain cases, LVFT can lead to heart murmurs, arrhythmias, and symptoms such as chest pain, chest tightness, and palpitations. Yet, LVFT causing left ventricular outflow tract obstruction is extremely rare [3-4]. We analyzed the data of a patient with LVFT-induced left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, whose symptoms and signs were very similar to those of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM). Combined with relevant literature, we analyzed and differentiated the clinical characteristics of the two diseases to enhance awareness of LVFT-induced left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, thereby avoiding misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment. This case provides reference for differential diagnosis and standardized management of similar diseases.
