Serum lipoprotein(a),homocysteine, cystatin C levels and their clinical value in CHD patients with DM
Abstract:Objective To study the serum lipoprotein(a),homocysteine, cystatin C levels and their clinical value in CHD patients with DM.Methods Nine hundred and thirty-two CHD patients were divided into CHD group (n=478),CHD+DM group (n=454) with 440 healthy subjects undergoing physical examination served as a control group in this study.Their serum lipoprotein (a),homocysteine, cystatin C levels were measured and ROC curve was plotted. The clinical significance of serum lipoprotein(a),homocysteine, cystatin C levels in diagnosis of CHD and DM was assessed. Results The serum lipoprotein(a),homocysteine and cystatin C levels were significantly higher in CHD group and CHD+DM group than in control group and in CHD+DM group than in CHD group (P<0.01).Correlation analysis showed that arterial stiffness index was positively related with serum levels of TC,TG,LDL,lipoprotein (a),homocysteine and eystatin C and negatively related with serum HDL level (P<0.05,P<0.01).Serum lipoprotein (a),homocysteine and cystatin C levels could thus be used as indicators for the diagnosis of CHD with DM.The sensitivity and specificity of their combined measurement were higher than those of their separate measurement for the diagnosis of CHD with DM.Conclusion Combined measurement of serum lipoprotein (a),homocysteine, cystatin C levels can assess the severity of CHD with DM,prediet its outcome and direct its treatment.
