Relation of CD4CD25 regulatory T cell expression and carotid plaque nature with progressive ischemic stroke in elderly patients
Abstract:Objective To study the relation of CD4 CD25 regulatory T cell (Treg) expression and carotid plaque nature with progressive ischemic stroke in elderly patients. Methods Eighty-two elderly acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients were divided into progressive AIS group (n=42) and non-progressive AIS group (n =40) according to their clinical symptoms and diagnostic criteria with 26 subjects undergoing physical examination served as a control group.Patients in AIS were further divided into stable plaque group and unstable plaque group according to their Doppler ultrasonographic findings.Expressions of Treg in progressive AIS group and non-progressive AIS group were detected by flow cytowetry and compared. Results The detection rate of unstable plaques was 57.1% in progressive AIS group. The expression level of Treg was significantly low-er in progressive AIS group than in non-progressive AIS group and in unstable plaque group than in stable plaque group (7.256%±1.424% vs 10.505%± 1.502%,P<0.05;7.576%±1.452% vs 10.352% ± 1.516%,P<0.05).Conclusion Treg expression and unstable plaques are related with progressive ischemic stroke.Treg expression is related with carotid plaque nature.
