Clinical characteristics and antithrombotic treatment of cardiogenic cerebral embolism patients
Abstract:Objective To study the clinical characteristics of cardiogenic cerebral embolism (CCE) patients and their prognosis after different antithrombotic therapies. Methods Two hundred and eight CCE patients were divided into death group (n=33) and survival group (n=175) according to their 3-month mortality after stroke.Their baseline data and death-related risk factors were compared. One hundred and sixty-four nonvalvular AF patients in survival group were further divided into warfarin treatment group (n=34) and antiplatelet treatment group (n=130) and their prognoses were compared. Results The rates of bilateral cerebral embolism, single large lesion and the scores of NIHSS on admission,CHADS2,CHA2DS2-VASc,HAS-BLED were significantly higher while those of left cerebral embolism and small scattered lesions were significantly lower in death group than in survival group (P<0.05,P<0.01).Bilateral cerebral embolism, single large lesion and high NIHSS score on admission were the independent risk factors for death in CCE patients (OR=2.570,95%CI:1.207-5.472,P=0.014;OR=0.433,95%CI:0.242-0.774,P=0.005;OR=1.179,95%CI:1.082-1.284,P=0.000).Conclusion Bilateral cerebral embolism, single large lesion and high NIHSS score on admission are the independent risk factors for death in CCE patients.
