Effect of Xiefei Lishui Fang on blood pressure in spontaneous hypertension rats
Abstract：Objective To study the effect of Xiefei Lishui Fang (Inducing Diuresis by Purging the Lung of Pathogenic Fire Fomula) on blood pressure in spontaneous hypertension (SH) rats.Methods Fifty SH rats were randomly divided into model group,captopril group,low traditional Chinese medicine dose group,medium traditional Chinese medicine dose group,and high traditional Chinese medicine dose group (10 in each group) with 10 WKY rats served as a control group in this study.Their blood pressure was measured at hours 2,4,6 and 8 after gastric lavage,their tail artery pressure was measured at weeks 1,2,3 and 4 after gastric lavage.Results The blood pressure was significantly lower in low traditional Chinese medicine dose group than in model group at hours 2 and 4 after treatment and in captopril group,medium traditional Chinese medicine dose group,and high traditional Chinese medicine dose group than in model group at hours 2,4 and 6 after treatent (P＜0.05,P＜0.01).The tail artery pressure was significantly lower in medium traditional Chinese medicine dose group and captopril group than in model group at weeks 1,2,3 and 4 after treatment (P＜0.05,P＜0.01).The tail artery pressure was significantly lower in high traditional Chinese medicine dose group and low traditional Chinese medicine dose group than in model group at weeks 2,3 and 4 after treatment (P＜0.01).Conclusion Xiefei Lishui Fang can effectively reduce the blood pressure in SH rats in a rapid and stable manner with a long-term efficacy.
