Prevalence and risk factors of aspirin resistance in elderly patients with hypertension
Abstract:Objective To study the prevalence and risk factors of aspirin resistance (AR) in the elderly hypertensive patients. Methods Five hundred and forty-seven hypertensive patients aged > 65 years admitted to our hospital were divided into aspirin resistant (AR) group (n=41),aspirin semi-resistant (ASR) group (n=219) and aspirin sensitive (AS) group (n=287) according to their platelet aggregation induced by AA and ADP.After the patients were given 100 mg aspirin for ≥ 2 months, their platelet function was tested by light transmission aggregometry, their clinical data and laboratory blood test parameters were recorded. Results The prevalence of AR was 7.5%.The platelet aggregation induced by AA and ADP,the serum levels of Hcy,NT-proBNP,hs-CRP,TC and LDL-C were significantly higher in AR group and ASR group than in AS group (P< 0.01).Logistic regression analysis showed that the serum levels of LDL-C,hs-CRP,NT-proBNP,and Hcy were positively related with the prevalence of AR (OR =2.911,P=0.000;OR=5.946,P=0.000;OR=1.012,P=0.000;OR=1.704,P=0.000).Conclusion The prevalence of AR is higher in elderly hypertensive patients.Higher serum levels of LDL-C,hs-CRP,NT-proBNP and Hcy are the risk factors for AR,and it is necessary to strengthen their prevention and intervention.
