Effect of different atorvastatin dosages on serum adiponectin and chemerin levels in acute ischemic stroke patients
Abstract:Objective To study the effect of different atorvastatin dosages on serum adiponectin (APN) and chemerin levels in acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients. Methods One hundred and twenty AIS patients were divided into 20 mg/d atorvastatin group,40 mg/d atorvastatin group, and control group (40 in each group). The serum APN,chemerin,TNF-α and IL 8 levels were measured in 20 mg/d atorvastatin group and 40 mg/d atorvastatin group two weeks before and af ter treatment. Results The serum chemerin,TNF-α and IL-8 levels were significantly lower and the serum APN level was significantly higher in 20 mg/d atorvastatin group and 40 mg/d atorvastatin group two weeks after treatment than before treatment (P<0.05).The serum chemerin,TNF-α and IL-8 levels were significantly lower and the serum APN level was significantly higher in 40 mg/d atorvastatin group than in 20 mg/d atorvastatin group two weeks after treatment (3.2± 1.2 mg/L vs 5.2±2.2 mg/L,61.5±18.5 ng/L vs 70.6±20.1 ng/L,24.5±7.2 ng/L vs 28.2± 8.1 ng/L,P<0.05;12.3±4.9 mg/L vs 9.1±3.8 mg/L,P<0.05).Atorvastatin was positively related with TNF α,IL 8 and chemerin (r=0.610,r=0.351,r=0.624,P<0.01) and negatively related with APN (r=0.402,P<0.01).High atorvastatin dosage was related with TNF-α,IL-8 and chemerin more significantly than low atorvastatin dosage. Conclusion Atorvastatin caneffec tively regulate the serum chemerin and APN levels and reduce theinflammatory reactions in AIS patients.
