Ralationship between metabolic syndrome and non-alcoholic fatty liver in elderly people of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture
Abstract:Objective To study the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).Methods A total of 1386 patients aged >60 years undergone physical examination in outpatient department or admitted to our hospital from January 2007 to December 2014 were included in this study.The prevalence of NAFLD in MS patients was compared according to the WHO criteria,China Diabetes Society (CDS) criteria,and China Prevention and Control Guideline of Dyslipidemia for Chinese Adults (CDG).Results The prevalence of NAFLD was 17.82 %,20.45 % in males and 15.40 % in females,the prevalence of MS was 30.81%,33.55 %and 36.00%,the prevalence of MS complicated with NAFLD was 26.00%,28.39%,30.86% in the 1386 patients under WHO,CDS and CDG criteria respectively.The prevalence of NAFLD in MS patients was higher in obese patients than in non-obese patients.The prevelance of NAFLD snd the number of abnormalities >2 in MS increased with the BMI or waist circumstance in different sex patients (P<0.05,P<0.01).Conclusion The prevalence of NAFLD and the number of abnormalities >2 in MS are relatively high in elderly obese patients of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture.
