Polymorphism of NAD(P)H oxidase p22phox C242T gene in carotid atherosclerosis patients f rom Shanghai Songjiang District
Abstract:Objective To study the association between polymorphism of NAD (P ) H oxidase p22phox C242T gene and carotid atherosclerosis in Han population of Shanghai Songjiang Dis‐trict .Methods One hundred and twenty‐nine patients with carotid atherosclerois from Shanghai Songjiang District served as an experimental group and 143 subjects undergoing physical examina‐tion served as a control group in this study .The association between genetypes and allelic gene frequency of C242T gene polymorphism sites was analyzed by PCR‐RFLP and gene sequencing , etc .Results The frequencies of CT + TT genetype and T allelic gene were significantly higher in experimental group than in control group (10 .1% vs 2 .8% ,5 .4% vs 1 .4% ,P<0 .05) .The serum HDL and ApoA levels were significantly higher in patients with CC genetype than in those with CT+ TT genetype (P<0 .05) .That the T allelic gene in C242T was an independent risk factor for carotid atherosclerosis (OR=1 .810 ,95% CI:1 .454-7 .218 ,P=0 .040) .Conclusion Polymor‐phism of C242T is associated with carotid atherosclerosis in Han population of Shanghai Songjiang District .The T allelic gene is an independent risk factor for carotid atherosclerosis .
