Association of Nrf2 and Keap1 haplotypes with carotid atherosclerosis
Abstract:Objective To study the association of Nrf2 and Keap1 haplotypes with carotid athero-sclerosis (CAS) .Methods One hundred and two CAS patients served as a case group and 105 non-CAS subjects served as a control group in this study .T he frequency distribution of genotypes in 6 Nrf2 sites ,3 Keap1 sites ,and allele was detected with gene chip technology .The association between gene haplotypes and CAS risk was analyzed using the Shesis software .Results Logistic regression analysis showed different Nrf2 genotypes at rs6726395 in two groups (21 .6% vs 44.8% ,58 .8% vs 39 .0% ,19 .6% vs 16 .2% ,P< 0 .01) .The Nrf2 haplotypes (ACCC ,ACCT , ACTT ,GTTC)with a frequency ≥0 .05 at rs6726395 ,rs1806649 ,rs13005431 ,and rs2886161 were different in two groups (P<0 .05 ,P<0 .01) .No significant difference was found in Keap1 haplo-types between the two groups (P>0 .05) .Conclusion Nrf2 at rs6726395 is associated with CAS . The Nrf2 haplotypes (ACCT and GTTC)are associated with the risk of CAS .
