Abstract:Objective To compare the efficacy of implant site anesthesia with that of conventional local infiltration anesthesia in single posterior maxillary tooth implantation surgery. Methods Sixty patients aged 20~70 years who underwent single tooth implant surgery in the maxillary posterior region at our hospital's Department of stomatology from February to June 2025 were randomly assigned to either the experimental group or the control group, with 30 patients in each group. The experimental group received site-specific implant anesthesia, whereas the control group received conventional local anesthesia.Parameters compared included pain scores during injection,pre-and post-anesthesia heart rate changes, and incidence of adverse anesthetic reactions. Results Pain scores during injection were significantly lower in the experimental group than in the control group(3.63±1.19 vs.4.33±1.21,P=0.03).No statistically significant difference was observed in heart rate changes between the two groups(P=0.34).In the elderly subgroup(60~70 years,n=20),pain scores and heart rate changes were lower in the experimental group compared to the control group, but the differences were not statistically significant(P=0.28、P=0.24).The overall incidence of adverse reactions was 3.33%in the experimental group and lower than the control group(10.00%).Conclusion When performing single posterior tooth implant surgery under local anesthesia, the use of implant site anesthesia techniques can effectively reduce patient discomfort during the anesthetic procedure. No significant differences were observed between the two methods with respect to heart rate variability or the incidence of adverse reactions.
