Abstract:Objective This study aims to investigate the current status of knowledge, attitude, practice(KAP)of implant denture patients concerning maintenance, providing evidence for developing targeted patient education programs. The goal is to improve the level of implant denture maintenance and extend the lifespan of implant dentures. Methods Convenience sampling was adopted to select 180 elderly patients with oral implants from the Department of Stomatology of the First Medical Center of the PLA General Hospital from September 2024 to March 2025 for a questionnaire survey.A questionnaire survey is conducted using the"Implant Denture Patients'Oral Health Knowledge,Attitudes, and Practice Questionnaire"to assess patients'knowledge and attitudes toward implant denture maintenance. The questionnaire includes sections on patients'demographic information, maintenance knowledge, attitudes, and practice.Descriptive statistical analysis is used to assess the levels of KAP,and the relationship between knowledge and attitudes is explored. Results The scores of maintenance knowledge and attitude towards dental implants among female patients were higher than those among male patients(P<0.01).With the improvement of educational level, patients'scores increased(P<0.05).With the increase of age, patients'scores decreased(P<0.01).The scores of maintenance knowledge and attitude towards dental implants among patients without a smoking history were higher than those among patients with a smoking history(P<0.01).The scores of non-implant patients were lower than those of implant patients(P<0.01).Univariate analysis showed that age, gender, educational level, smoking history, and implantation time of elderly patients were all independent influencing factors for the KAP scores of elderly dental implant patients(P<0.05).The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that age, gender, educational level, smoking history, and implantation time of elderly patients were independent influencing factors for the KAP scores of elderly dental implant patients. Conclusion There is an obvious positive correlation among knowledge, behavior, and attitude regarding dental implant maintenance in elderly patients.Age,gender, educational level, smoking history, and implantation time are influencing factors for the KAP scores of elderly dental implant patients. It is necessary to strengthen the education of maintenance knowledge for elderly dental implant patients, improve their awareness of dental implant maintenance, optimize their maintenance behaviors, and enhance the long-term success rate of dental implants.
