Abstract:Low-level laser therapy(LLLT)modulates the function of biological tissues through the mechanism of photobiomodulation. In several studies,LLLT has demonstrated positive effects on periodontal tissue remodeling during orthodontic tooth movement, such as reducing inflammation, promoting cell proliferation and migration, enhancing the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of periodontal ligament stem cells, accelerating alveolar bone remodeling and tooth movement, and reducing root resorption during orthodontic treatment. However, current research findings remain inconsistent, possibly due to variations in experimental design, laser parameters, treatment frequency, and other factors.Future studies should focus on further optimizing the parameters of low-level laser therapy(LLLT),thoroughly investigating its underlying mechanisms of action, and conducting additional clinical trials to establish its efficacy and safety. This paper examines the potential role of LLLT in periodontal tissue remodeling during orthodontic tooth movement.
