Research progress of microwave therapy in the treatment of oral and maxillofacial tumors

Abstract：Oral and maxillofacial tumors represent one of the major diseases that pose a significant threat to human health.Currently,the treatment modalities commonly employed for oral and maxillofacial tumors mainly encompass surgery,chemotherapy,radiotherapy,and combined therapies.However,all these approaches have certain limitations.Against this backdrop,microwave-based therapeutic methods have drawn considerable research attention due to their minimally invasive nature.This paper investigates the mechanisms of common microwave treatments inducing tumor cell death,discusses the methods of microwave treatment for oral and maxillofacial tumors in recent years,elaborates on their advantages and disadvantages,and offers certain insights for their future development.
