Abstract:Objective This study aims to investigate the application of computer-aided design(CAD)technology and three-dimensional(3D)printing technology in the digital treatment of teeth and root canals, especially the influence of 3D printing technology on the restoration accuracy of teeth. Methods A total of 15 extracted premolars were randomly selected for this study.Cone-beam computed tomography(CBCT)was used to obtain three-dimensional data of the teeth, followed by the reconstruction of their geometric models.Subsequently,3D modeling was performed using Mimics 20.0 software. An 8D Light R1-50um 405 3D printer with RSN-201 resin material was employed for printing.Following the printing, the digital models were re-imaged,and volumetric analysis was conducted. The influence of 3D printing technology on the accuracy of tooth restoration was systematically evaluated. Results Under specific conditions, the in vitro restoration of extracted teeth using 3D printing demonstrates a highly effective restoration outcome when compared to original teeth in terms of volume and shape. The matching effect between the printed tooth models and the original teeth was significantly improved under certain parameter settings, with a high degree of fit.The specific data showed that the volume difference between the replicas and the original teeth ranged from 0.05 mm3 to 0.11 mm3,indicating a high level of fit(P>0.05).Conclusion The combination of CAD technology and 3D printing technology can significantly enhance the precision of root canal restoration, providing a more accurate technical approach for dental restoration.
