Abstract:One of the clinical manifestations of periodontitis is tooth mobility and displacement, which may ultimately lead to tooth loss if left untreated. The tooth loosening caused by moderate to severe periodontitis is usually widespread and difficult to be controlled through conventional periodontal therapy, which has an impact on the function and aesthetics of the patients. The utilization of a fixed, permanent periodontal splint plays a crucial role in comprehensive periodontal treatment, serving as a late prosthodontic approach for these patients.Considerable development has been seen in numerous areas as a consequence of the advent of digital technology. These include improvements in the processes of tooth preparation,impression-taking method and the fabrication of the splint,as well as enhancements to the materials used in its construction. This treatment option can be considered for the management of moderate and severe periodontitis, provided the indications are appropriately understood and considered.
