Abstract:Objective To systematically evaluate the efficacy of glass-ceramic and resin-ceramic inlay restorations in the treatment of posterior tooth defects. Methods PubMed,Web of Science,Cochrane Library,CNKI and other databases were retrieved, and relevant randomized controlled trials(RCTs)were integrated.Only RCTs comparing glass ceramics and resin ceramics inlays for posterior tooth defects were included. Results 10 RCTs were included in this study, with 895 participants(1 068 restorations). The results revealed that:In terms of postoperative sensitivity, marginal adaptation, marginal discoloration, color match, there was no significant difference between the glass group and the resin group(P>0.05).In terms of restoration integrity, however, the resin-based ceramics performed better than the glass-based ceramics in 2-year(RR=2.69,95%CI:1.06~6.79,P=0.04).Conclusion Both resin-based ceramics and glass-ceramics inlay restorations can yield favorable therapeutic outcomes. However,in terms of the 2-year fracture rate of the restorations,resin-based ceramics exhibit better performance than glass-ceramics.
