Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between periodontal status and blood lipid level in elderly patients with 2 diabetic nephropathy (DN). Methods A total of 105 patients with type 2 DN combined with periodontal disease who were treated in Pinggu Hospital,Beijing Friendship Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University from February 2022 to May 2022 were included and divided into two groups according to their serum cholesterol levels. 80 patients in normal group (serum total cholesterol<5.17 mmol/L) were included. There were 25 cases in hyperlipidemia group (serum total cholesterol ≥ 5.17 mmol/L). Basic information was collected, including periodontal status, glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c),triglyceride,total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C),and high sensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP). Multiple logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the correlation between periodontal disease and blood lipid level in type 2 DN patients. Results The levels of HbA1c,triacylglycerol,LDL-C,hs-CRP,bleeding index (BI) and clinical attachment loss (CAL) in hyperlipidemia group were higher than normal group (P<0.05). Multiple Logistic regression analysis showed that BI was a risk factor for dyslipidemia in elderly patients with DN and periodontitis (OR=5.002,95%CI:1.080-23.177,P=0.040). Conclusion There is a positive correlation between periodontitis and lipid level in DN patients, and the risk of dyslipidemia is increased in DN patients with periodontal disease.
