Abstract:Objective Using meta-analysis,systematically evaluate the relationship between oral health issues and the likelihood of debility in the elderly. Methods A computer search was conducted throughout relevant databases at home and abroad respectively .The search was conducted between the database's creation and March 12,2023.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, two researchers conducted literature screening, data extraction and literature quality evaluation in accordance with the principle of independence.Excel2007 was used for data sorting, and Revman5.3 and Stata14.0 were used for data analysis. Results A total of 21,579 cases,or 12 articles, were included in the sample. The results of the meta-analysis demonstrated that the debilitated group had a lower oral mastication function, with a significant difference between the two groups (OR=1.65,95% CI:1.02~2.67,P=0.04).The debilitated group also had a higher degree of tooth agenesis than the control group, although the difference between the two groups was not no significant.(OR=1.01,95% CI:0.95~1.07,P=0.79).The results were no significant difference, however subgroup analyses revealed low heterogeneity in the study groups evaluated by the fatigue index (I2=47,P=0.15) and the cohort study group (I2=0,P=0.61).In conclusion, the data that are now available point to the possibility that inadequate oral mastication poses a risk factor for the onset of senile debility. However, given the volume of included literature and the study methods, this conclusion warrants additional investigation.
