Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacture (CAD/CAM) methods and traditional methods on the marginal and internal fit of provisional restorations. Methods A total of 60 resin teeth were randomly divided into four groups (n=15):ProtempTM 4 group,PMMA group,Cemeo group and Upcera PMMA group. After the corresponding crown restorations were made, the crowns were bonded to the corresponding standard model teeth with adhesive. After being bathed in distilled water at 37℃ for 24h,the crowns were cut along the buccal/tongue orientation line. After the stereo microscope was enlarged, the gap of the reference points at the edge and inside was measured by the Imageview micromeasurement software, and statistical analysis was performed. Results There was no significant difference in marginal fit, axial wall fit, axial occlusal angle fit,and occlusal surface fit among the 3 groups of CAD/CAM provisional restorations (P>0.05).Traditional provisional restorations ProtempTM 4 showed statistically significant differences in marginal fit, axial wall fit, axial occlusal angle fit,and occlusal fit when compared to any of the 3 groups of CAD/CAM provisional restorations (P<0.05).Conclusion The suitability of the marginal and internal (axial wall, axial occlusal angle, occlusal surface) of CAD/CAM provisional restorations is better than that of provisional restorations made by traditional direct method.
