Abstract:Temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis is the main pathological manifestation of patients with severe temporomandibular joint disease.Pathological mineralization of joint tissue is one of the important pathological features of patients with osteoarthritis. However, the role of the products of pathological mineralization, such as calcium phosphate microcrystals,in the pathogenesis and disease progression of osteoarthritis is still controversial.Studies have shown that the presence of calcium phosphate microcrystals is found in most joints with osteoarthritis, and the appearance of these microcrystals is earlier than the occurrence of clinical symptoms of arthritis, and their content is often closely related to the degree of joint destruction in the later stage. This paper summarized and analyzed the articles on the correlation between pathological mineralization and the progression of osteoarthritis in recent years, hoping to provide references for clarifying the correlation between pathological mineralization and the progression of osteoarthritis, intervening in pathological mineralization and blocking the progression of osteoarthritis.
