Abstract:Objective:To investigate the quality of life (QOL) and fatigue status in elderly patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMJ).Methods:OHIP-14 Chinese version and FS-14 were used to investigate 211 elderly patients with temporomandibular joint disorder and 200 relatives of patients in repair department as healthy control group. The statistical analysis of the data was carried out with SPSS22.0 software. Results:There were significant differences in (OHIP)-14 and FS-14 scale between two groups.(OHIP)-14 score (15.47±9.28) vs (4.23±1.65);physical fatigue score(5.03±2.02) vs (2.28±1.19) mental fatigue score (2.06±1.78) vs(1.11±1.09),total score of fatigue (7.09± 3.17) vs(3.06±1.66).There were a positive and significant relationship between quality of life and physical fatigue and mental fatigue, correlation coefficient were 0.602、0.576.Conclusions:The fatigue of elderly patients with temporomandibular joint disorders is higher than those of the healthy control group, and the degree of physical fatigue is affected by the time of illness, the quality of life decreased with the increase of fatigue. The knowledge of temporomandibular joint disorders should be strengthened in clinical work,in order to reduce the degree of fatigue and improve the quality of life.
