Comparison of the clinical effect of between flexible dentures and removable partial denture in the repair of the kennedy class Ⅲ Dentition defect

Abstract:Objective:To compare the clinical effect of two methods of repair of Kennedy class Ⅲ Dentition defect.Methods:98 patients with Kennedy Class Ⅲ Dentition defect were divided into flexible denture group and traditional removable denture group according to different repair methods.The clinical effect and patient satisfaction were compared.Results:The flexible denture repair is superior to the traditional RPD group in stability,comfort index,beauty and food impaction.They were no significant differences in soft tissue compression and chewing efficiency.However,traditional RPD group gradually better than the flexible denture in the part of retention with the extension of time.They gradually appear discolour and aging phenomenon after wearing the flexible denture for half a year.The two groups were statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion:The flexible denture has unique advantages in denture restoration of Kennedy class Ⅲ Dentition defect,it can be widely used in clinic,but long-term effects need to be observed.
