Abstract:Objective:To study the incidence and anatomical features of maxillary sinus septa in the patients with missing maxillary posterior teeth. Methods:CBCT images of maxilla in the patients who underwent posterior teeth implant therapy from January 2016 to December 2016.The incidence, location, direction and height of the maxillary sinus septa were analyzed.Data were presented using descriptive statistics. Results:There were a total of 172 patients (male 93,female 79) with 210 sinus, the prevalence of maxillary sinus segments with septa was 21.9%.63.0% (29/46) of the septa were located in the middle region,21.7% (7/46) in the posterior region,15.2% (10/47) in the anterior region. The mean height of septa was (5.44±2.39)mm,and no statistically significant differences were observed with regard to gender or age.The distribution of septa in buccal-palate (87.23%) was far more than that in mesial-distal direction(12.77%).Conclusion:CBCT can observe the position, direction and height of maxillary sinus bone, which can reduce the complications of operation and improve the success rate of implantation.
