Analysis of relationship between caries and stroke

Abstract：There is a correlation between general health and oral disease.Stroke,as one of the causes of disability,can lead to dysfunction and cognitive dysfunction.Affected arms can not effectively clean teeth,with the effect of decline of cognitive function,which weaken patients' oral self cleaning ability.Intention-to-treat and visit rates decrease.Poor oral health attitude,the lack of a unified standard of oral care program,and multiple medication lead to a decrease in saliva flow.Above factors lead to poor oral hygiene,and increase incidence of dental caries than peers.Streptococcus mutans,the main pathogen of dental caries,associated with hemorrhagic stroke.Number of remaining teeth and masticatory function has the effect on cognitive function.This article discusses the characteristics of stroke patients and the relationship between the caries and stroke.
