The effect of durphat combined desensitizing paste for the treatment of dentine hypersensitivity

Abstract：Objective:To observe the short-term and long-term curative effects of Duraphat combined with desensitized paste in the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity second to severe odontotripsis.Methods:79 patients with dentin hypersensitivity caused by severe odontotripsis (96 teeth) were selected and randomly divided into group A (n=30),B (n=32) and C (n=34),respectively.Duraphat,Duraphat combined with desensitized paste and desensitized paste were used for desensitization therapy of the diseased teeth,and three groups were compared for curative effects immediately,1,3,6 and 12 months after treatment.Results:Pair-wise comparison immediately after treatment showed both group A and group B were better than group C (P=0.003 and P=0.022),and there was no significant difference in curative effect between group A and group B.After 1 month,the pair-wise comparison showed that group B was better than group C (P=0.001),while there was no significant different efficacy between group A and group B,and between group A and group C.After 3 months,there was no statistically significant different efficacy among the three groups.After 6 months,the pair-wise comparison showed that group B was better than group A (P=0.010),group B was also better than group C (P=0.026),and there was no difference between group A and group C.After 12 months,the group B was better than group A (P=0.001),group B was also better than group C (P=0.038),and there was no difference between group A and group C.Conclusion:Duraphat combined with desensitized paste has remarkable efficacy in the treatment of dentine hypersensitivity,which is superior to any of them used alone.
