The clinical efficacy of two drugs combined with the treatment of dentin hypersensitivity in elderly patients

Abstract：Objective:To observe and compare the effect of two kinds of desensitization drugs for the elderly dentin hypersensitivity caused by gingival retraction.Methods:55 cases were collected in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University,Department of Stomatology of elderly patients with dentin hypersensitivity (90 teeth),30 cases of male age (75.9± 12.3),female 25 cases age (71.5± 11.5).They were randomly divided into 3 groups.Group A with bioactive glass (Ominq),B group with fluoride varnish,group C was treated with bioactive glass (Ominq) + fluoride varnish.The researchers analyzed the VAS scores of immediate,24 hours,1 month,3 months.Results:The immediate postoperative A group,after 24 hours,after 1 months and after 3 months the rate were 76.7％,76.7％,40％ and 20％,while the rate in group B were 66.7％,66.7％,33.3％ and 13.3％,C group was 93.3％,90％,and 83.3％,73.3％.The difference between the two groups was statistically significant,and the difference between group B and group C was statistically significant (P＜0.05);However,1 months and 3 months after surgery,A group and B group were no statistical differences (P＞0.05).Conclusion:The elderly patients with dentin hypersensitivity caused by gingival retraction of the root surface were treated with a combination of bioactive glass + fluoride varnish,which was highly effective a But its long-term stability needs further observation.
