Investigating safety of treating hours of root canal therapy in the elderly patients with coronary heart disease

Abstract:Objective:To study the safety of treating hours of root canal therapy in the elderly patients with coronary heart disease.Method:The elderly patients with tooth root canal therapy were selected.56 patients with coronary heart disease (experimental group) and 50 patients without coronary heart disease (control group) Throughout the course of treatment,we monitored the blood pressure,heart rate and ECG.Result:Blood pressure and heart rate were increased during root canal therapy in patients and control group with statistically significant differences compared with that before operation,while,there was a more than significant difference in blood pressure during 30min to 45min of treatment for patients and control group.Electrocardiogram's change showed in some with coronary heart disease.Conclusions:Root canal therapy is safe for the elderly with coronary heart disease,but we recommend treating hours of root canal therapy in 30min and no more than 45min.
