Analysis of the tooth loss situation in 128 patients over 80 years-old in Beijing : a cross-sectional study based on panoramic tomography

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the tooth loss situation in patients over 80 years old in Beijing based on panoramic tomography.Methods:Panoramic radiographs of 128 patients was obtained and evaluated by two experienced dentist separately.Each tooth was classified as missing tooth,residual root,implant or remaining tooth.The result was described from patient level and tooth level.Results:Average number of remaining tooth is 17.84±7.362,each patient has 2 residual root on average.6 patient(4.69％) had received implant treatment.Proportion of edentulous is 1.56％.Conclusion:It is a reliable method to investigate tooth loss situation by using panoramic radiograph.Tooth number of patient over 80 years is less than 20,missing rate of molar is comparatively higher.
