Abstract:Objective:To evaluate the effect of smoking on periimplantitis. Methods:Thirty dental implants and thirty natural teeth were divided into four groups:A(dental implants with smoking),B(dental implants without smoking),C (natural teeth with smoking),D(natural teeth without smoking). The periodontal index (PD、mSBI、aBL),levels of IL-1βin gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) periimplant crevicular fluid(PICF) were examined, and statistic analysis was maken. Results:PD、mSBI、aBL in dental implants with smoking (group A) was higher than that in dental implants without smoking (group B)(P>0.05).IL-1β in dental implants with smoking (group A)was higher than that in dental implants without smoking (group B) and natural teeth with smoking (group C)(P<0.05).IL-1βin group C was higher than that in group D(P<0.05).Conclusions:Smoking is a important dangerous factor for periimplantitis and periodontitis. And smoking may be more often associated with damage in dental implant than in natural tooth.
