Abstract:Objective:To understand the value of 320 detectorvolume CT (tomography computed) in the diagnosis of upper airway obstruction in patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).Methods:Fifteen patients diagnosed with OSAHS were scanned by 320-detector-row volume CT while apnea or hypopnea was detected by polysomnography(PSG) under natural sleep. The dynamic four-dimensional anatomical images were reconstructed and the upper airway obstruction was analyzed.Results:320-detector-row volume CT had precisely and visibly reproduced obstructive course and sites of the whole upper airway by four-dimensional and dynamic image reconstruction using computer software when the apnea or hypopnea occurred.Multiple obstructive sites were detected in 86.7% of 15 patients with OSAHS.Conclusions:320-detector-row volume CT can accurately locate the upper airway and the obstructive site of the upper airway and the obstructive site in the patients with OSAHS.
