The characteristics and development of orthodontic treatment in elderly patients

Abstract：Malocclusion deformity has a higher prevalence in our country,incidence rate of 39.91％-58.06％.Due to caries,periodontal disease,trauma,maxillary diseases,malocclusion deformity gradually increases since the middle-aged,seriously affecting quality of life.In recent years,the requirements of orthodontic for elderly patients gradually increased.The general health status and oral health conditions of old people are much more complicated than teenagers and adults,correct principles and orthodontic treatment plan are also quite different.Elderly orthodontics has become an increasingly hot issue in the field of orthodontic doctors,the elderly orthodontic cases were reported in developed countries at present,domestic related aspects of the report and research is still rare.The characteristics and progress of the domestic elderly orthodontics will be summarized in this article.
