Correlation between central adiposity and periodontitis among the aged population in the community

Abstract：Objective:To investigate and evaluate the association betw een m easures ofcentraladiposity and periodontitis am ong the aged population in Y anta com m unity of X i’an. Methods: G eneral inform ation investigation, periodontal exam ination and questionnaires w ere carried out am ong the older population of Y anta com m unity of X i’an in 2012. 364 participants w ere recruited in the study.A ssociation betw een generalcharacteristics,centraladiposity and the classifications ofperiodontitis w ere analyzed.Polytom ous logistic regressions w ere adoptto evaluate risk factors ofm oderate and severe periodontitis.Results:The ratio ofperiodontitisincreased significantly in the centraladiposity population.H igh WH tR w as an im portant risk factor of m oderate and severe periodontitis. Conclusion: C entral adiposity w as show n to be related to periodontitis in the aged population in Y anta com m unity of X i’an.
