On development of doctor-patient communication ability of general dentists

Abstract：With a gradual shift of the biomedical model to biopsychosocial medical model and the establishment of new patient-centered doctor-patient relationship, doctors are required to master good communication skills and physician-patient communication is increasingly becoming an indispensable part in medical services. General dentists , as the primary oral health care experts, provide basic, ongoing oral health care services to individuals and families in the communities, clinics or hospitals So, good physician-patient communication ability is essential for general dentists. In this paper, the characteris-tics, principles and relevant skills of general dentists on physician-patient communication capacity building were explored. The purpose of this paper was to provide some useful inspiration and help for the teaching and training of young general dentists.
