Abstract:Objective:Aiming at bone tissue containing much compact cortical bone, such as jaw bone with teeth, we compared four methods of making high-quality paraffin section of bone tissues and investigated several noticeable problems.Methods:4 kinds of dehydrating and transparent agents including dimethylbenzene, chloroform, environmental treatment fluid, n-butanol and paraffin immersion processing were compared., Consequently, the treatment that could produce pathological slices of bone tissues which contained more cortical bone were marked as the best process and method. Results:For bone tissues containing more cortical bone, such as jaw bone with teeth, high-quality pathological slices could be produced through the method of adopting N-butanol as dehydrating and transparent agents if properly used. Conclusions:After comparing 4 methods of processing bone tissues, we drew a conclusion that treatment with N-butanol is the best method of making high-quality pathological slices of bone tissues which contain more cortical bone such as jaw bone with teeth, edentulous mandible, tibia and so on, and thus is worth to be popularized.
