Abstract:Objective: To analyze the effect of autologous particulate dentin plaster of paris complex in the repair of rat skull defects. Material and Methods: To produce the autologous particulate dentin, the teeth were extracted from 2 Sprague-Dawley rats (SD), and demineralized, derosionated, smashed into pieces, and then mixed with Ca [SO4]-0.5H2O using a 2:1 ratio. Calvarial bone defects (Φ8mmm) in rats were filled with the autologous particular dentin and plaster of paris complexes dissolved in the physiological saline harmonic in experiment group, compared with blank control. Skull samples were taken for hematoxylin-eosin and Masson staining at 2, 4, and 8 weeks after surgeries. Results: Autologous particulate dentin and plaster of paris complex bone showed a good histocompatibility osteoconductivity, and the good ability to combine closely with new bone, restrain the move of dentin particles, and thus its operational property was improved. Conclusion: Autologous particulate dentin and plaster of paris complex bone is an alternative bone substitute, which has a good histocompatibility and an excellent processability.
