Abstract:Sudden sensorineural hearing loss is a common emergency in otolaryngology. When hearing loss involves main high-frequencies(2~8 kHz),it is classified as high-frequency sudden sensorineural hearing loss. Most patients experience severe high-pitched tinnitus and exhibit a significant reduction in speech recognition ability, particularly in noisy environments. However, due to the mild level of hearing loss at speech frequencies coupled with severe tinnitus, the patient's hearing loss tends to be masked, resulting in delayed treatment.Furthermore, conventional treatment for HFSSNHL often yields suboptimal outcomes. This article reviews the etiology, pathogenesis, treatment and prognosis of HFSSNHL,with the aim of providing a basis for the clinical reclassification of SSNHL.
