A Case of Cochlear Nerve Hypoplasia with Bilateral Cochlear Implantation in Two Stages: Analysis of Intracochlear Electrocochleography (EcochG) Characteristics and Long-Term Outcomes
Abstract:Cochlear nerve deficiency (CND), including cochlear nerve aplasia (CNA) and cochlear nerve hypoplasia (CNH), is considered a relative contraindication for cochlear implantation (CI). The auditory and speech outcomes after CI in children with CND vary greatly, and there are many influencing factors. There is still considerable controversy regarding the benefits of CI in these patients. Previous studies have mainly focused on the developmental status of cochlear structure. This study evaluates the cochlear function of patients with cochlear nerve dysplasia through intracochlear electrocochleography (EcochG) analysis, and follows up to assess the postoperative auditory and speech development outcomes, exploring personalized programming parameters.
