Progress in clinical application of masseter vestibular evoked myogenic potentials

Abstract：Masseter vestibular evoked myogenic potentials(mVEMPs),as responses involving the auditory-masseter and vestibular-masseter reflex pathways,can be used as a complementary test to assess function of the vestibular trigeminal nerve pathway to help diagnose brain stem damage in REM sleep behavior disorders,multiple sclerosis,amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Parkinson's disease.as a supplement to clinical and radiographic examinations,mVEMP has certain clinical values and can facilitate research.This article reviews its neural mechanisms and potential clinical applications.
