Application of A Novel Ultrathin Cartilage-Perichondrium Complex Preparer in the Endoscopic Transcanal Myringoplasty

Abstract：Objective To report a new instrument for the preparation of ultrathin cartilage-perichondrium complex(UCPC).Methods We designed and built a new instrument for preparing UCPC suitable for tympanoplasty.Its efficacy including the rate of successful preparation and graft thickness uniformity,as well as factors affecting UCPC preparation and outcomes of myringoplasty in 27 patients who underwent simple myringoplasty in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology,Huadong Hospital,Fudan University from February 2022 to September 2022,were analyzed.Results Installation of the preparer was simple and easy.Cartilage slices and the UCPCs made by the preparer showed structural integrity and were suitable for myringoplasty and tympanum reconstruction,with uniform UCPCs thickness close to that of the natural tympanic membrane,independent of gender and laterality.Postoperative tympanic membrane healing was excellent with satisfying appearance,and improvement in PTA(P<0.001).Conclusion Using the preparer,preparation of UCPC becomes easy and less time-consuming.It is suitable for clinical adoption.
