Analysis and Management of Adverse Reactions in Four Cases of Otocerebral Glue Use
Abstract:In otological surgery, if cerebrospinal fluid leakage occurs, the dura mater is usually repaired. Otocerebral glue, as a medical adhesive, can better adhere to the patient's own tissues, has good biocompatibility, and is non-toxic and free of side effects. However, we found that some patients who used otocerebral glue during surgery developed local inflammatory reactions leading to long-term otorrhea, and even delayed wound healing forming a fistula. For these patients, secondary surgery was performed to thoroughly remove the otocerebral glue, and postoperative recovery was good. This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of Otorhinolaryngology, Shandong University (XYK20200606), and the patients and their families provided informed consent.
