Abstract:Middle ear cholesteatoma is a common disease in otolaryngology. In recent years, its clinical importance has become increasingly prominent.Data shows that the annual incidence rate of this disease is 10/100,000.Currently,there is no effective non-surgical treatment method in clinical practice, and the postoperative recurrence rate is as high as 40%.If not diagnosed and intervened in a timely manner,it can lead to various intracranial and extracranial complications. The pathogenesis research of cholesteatoma.formation focuses on cell proliferation, apoptosis, and bone destruction.Various non-coding RNAs have garnerd significant attention due to their pivotal roles in gene expression, cell cycle regulation, and disease pathogenesis and pro gression.Notably, research on microRNA,long non-coding RNA,and circular RNA has been particularly extensive. In this review, progress of research on the role of ncRNA in middle ear cholesteatoma is reviewed.
