Abstract:In the aging society,age-related hearing loss has received a lot of attention.Studies have shown that age-related hearing loss not only affects an individual's auditory and speech communication abilities, but is also associated with cognitive decline.Event-related potentials,as an objective assessment tool for cognitive function and central auditory processing ability, have increasingly attracted attention from clinicians and researchers. In this report,we focused on age-related hearing loss and examined its effects on speech information processing in the auditory cortex,as well as reviewing the relationship between acoustic signals processing by the central auditory nervous system, rehabilitation outcomes intervention with assistive listening devices(hearing aids or cochlear implants)and cognitive function in patients with age-related hearing loss.
