Abstract:Clinically, anatomical variations of the jugular bulb are common, mainly including high jugular bulb(HJB),jugular bulb wall dehiscence(JBWD)and jugular bulb diverticulum(JBD),etc. In recent years, with continuous improvement of imaging technology, research on jugular bulb variations has increasingly deepened.Although several imaging criteria or classifications based on clinical needs have been proposed, there lack widely accepted consences. On the other hand, clinical relationships between jugular bulb variations and common ear symptoms and disorders(e.g.,tinnitus,otogenic vertigo and hearing loss)remain to be understood. Therefore, further understanding of jugular bulb variations will help discern the role of anatomical factors in common ear disorders(or symptoms).
