Abstract:Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of various drugs treatments for fungal otitis externa using meta-analysis.Methods A computer-based search was completed, including CNKI,CBM,Web of Science,PubMed,EMbase and Cochrane Library for studies published up to March 2023 involving randomized controlled trials or clinical controlled trials on drug treatment of fungal otitis externa after ear canal irrigation. The Zotero 6.0 and R 4.3.0 software was used for quality assessment and data analysis. Results A total of 38 studies involving 5444 patients and 16 topical drugs met inclusion criteria.Meta-analysis ranked effectiveness in the following order:econazole and triamcinolone acetonide>fluconazole>bifonazole>ketoconazole>amphotericin B>iodophor>butenafine>miconazole>clotrimazole>boric acid>salicylic acid>75%alcohol>povidone-iodine>iodine tincture>tolnaftate>fungicidin. Conclusion Current evidence suggests that econazole and triamcinolone acetonide and fluconazole are superior compared to other drugs in the treatment of fungal otitis externa. However, further large-sample,multicenter,double-blind randomized controlled trials are needed to confirm the findings.
