Abstract:Objective To investigate the causal relationship between lipid levels(triglycerides,high-density lipoprotein,low-density lipoprotein, apolipoprotein A and apolipoprotein B)and Sudden sensorineural hearing loss(SSNHL)by Mendelian randomization. Methods Lipids indices from the UK Biobank(UKB)and genome-wide association study(GWAS,a FinnGen study)data concerning SSNHL were subjected to inverse variance weighted(IVW),MR-Egger regression, weighted median, weighted mode and simple mode analyses in a two-sample Mendelian randomization study. Results IVW showed that triglycerides(OR=0.991,95%CI:0.831-1.182,P=0.924),LDL-C(OR=1.067,95%CI:0.861-1.322,P=0.552),Apo B(OR=1.120,95%CI:0.928-1.352,P=0.235)were not significantly associated with the risk of SSNHL(P>0.05),whereas HDL-C(OR=0.822,95%CI:0.694-0.974,P=0.023)and Apo A(OR=0.821,95%CI:0.682-0.988,P=0.037)were(P<0.05).Conclusion The Mendelian randomization study results suggest that decreases of HDL-C and Apo A are potential risk factors for SSNHL.
