Abstract:Objective To report clinical characteristics of auditory dysfunction in patients with migraine. Methods Patients with migraine(n=100)admitted to the Department of Otolaryngology,Suining Central Hospital, from January 2020 to December 2021 and 100 healthy controls from the same period received pure tone audiometry, otoacoustic emission and auditory brainstem response tests.Result Pure tone audiometry thresholds at 0.25,0.5,1 and 2 kHz in the migraine group elevated compared to the control group(P<0.001),but not at 4,8 kHz.DPOAE detection rates in the migraine group were lower than in the control group At 1 kHz,(P<0.001),but not at other frequencies(P>0.05).DPOAE amplitudes at 0.75,1 and 2 kHz were lower in the migraine group than in the control group(P<0.05),but not at 4,6 and 8 kHz(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in ABR threshold between the migraine and the control groups(P>0.05),nor in waves Ⅰ and Ⅲ peak latencies(PL)at 80 dB nHL(P>0.05),although the wave Ⅴ latency was shorter than in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in waves Ⅰ-Ⅲ and Ⅲ-Ⅴ intervals between the two groups(P>0.05),while the Ⅰ-Ⅳ interval in the migraine group was shorter than in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Migraine patients may have peripheral or central auditory impairments, more likely affecting lower frequencies. In clinical practice, auditory function status should be evaluated in migraine patients.
