Progress of Research on Key Transcription Factors for Development and Regeneration of Hair Cells

Abstract：Damage of hair cells can result in sensorineural hearing loss and vertigo.Because mammalian hair cells cannot regenerate after damage,restoring impaired hearing and vestibular function related to hair cell damage is challenging.Functional regeneration of hair cells may be achieved by regulating key transcription factors involved in the development and maturation of inner ear hair cells.There are many transcription factors involved in hair cell develop-ment and regeneration.In this review,key transcription factors and their relationships are summarized in order to pro-vide new strategies for future research on hair cell regeneration.
